- Think about things that bring you peace, comfort and distraction
- Have a plan and talk to someone you trust for support
- Talk to neighbors about your concerns with fireworks
- Use your five senses and create your own self care toolkit: massage essential oils onto you wrists (smell), listen to calming music (hear), touch and taste your favorite foods, visualize your favorite place (see)
- Utilize foam ear protection if needed
- Practice deep breathing
- Remind yourself that you are safe and that the noises are temporary and will go away
